1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Panel Discussion – Marijuana Gardens: The Public Safety Threat on Our Lands

Location: Shasta District Fairgrounds, Fusaro Hall

The number of marijuana gardens is increasing across the forested landscape on both public and private lands.  With this, increasing numbers of dangerous and potentially deadly confrontations are occurring between growers, the recreational public, landowners and land managers.  The panel will include: Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko and former USFS law enforcement officer Roger Newton.

Moderator: John Andersen – Area Manager Mendocino Redwood Company and Board Member of the Jere Melo Foundation.

Through adaptive learning he now has more than 40,000 active followers on Twitter and his blog receives more than 4000 hits each week. Test your log-loader skills in the first annual SCLC Log Loader Skills Competition.  , competitors will compete for prizes in a John Deere 2154 shovel.  Along with bragging rights, awards will be given for first through fifth place. The event is sponsored by Pape Machinery and LeVey Transportation.

Can you dig it? Balance it? That is the question that contestants from far and wide will try to answer. Join us as we watch experienced backhoe operators fight time and gravity to take home the prize money.  Equipment available to competitors will include CAT, Case, and John Deere backhoes.
